SCDHEC's Green Guide Debuts

A new environmental magazine designed to help consumers "go green" is available, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control reports.

"DHEC created a new publication called 'South Carolina Green Guide: Our environment. Our responsibility' to provide our citizens a better understanding of environmental topics and DHEC programs," said Bob King, deputy commissioner of the Office of Environmental Quality Control. "In the inaugural issue, programs are highlighted such as "Air is everywhere! So are the problems and solutions", "It's just right to recycle," "South Carolina's coastline provides opportunities, challenges" and "Safe drinking water: Who's responsible?"

"Other issues and topics include information about compact fluorescent light bulbs, protecting your home from radon, tips for taking the hazards out of household products, ways to conserve water and much more," King said. "The Green Guide covers more than 30 topics and is an excellent approach for turning environmental concerns into actions that help protect and preserve our environment, which is everyone's responsibility."

'South Carolina Green Guide: Our environment. Our responsibility' is available electronically on the DHEC Web site at http://www.scdhec.gov/administration/library/OR-0763.pdf or by calling 1-800-768-7348.
