Something for the Youngsters at the Greenville County Museum of Art

The annual exhibition on children’s book illustration features the work of William Steig, the creator of Shrek! Titled The Man Who Never Grew Up, this exhibition features original illustrations from several of Steig’s books, arranged so that families can plan their own tours. A prolific New Yorker cartoonist before he began to write and illustrate original children's literature, Steig's best-known character was Shrek. Original drawings of Shrek are included in the exhibition.

William Steig was a successful cartoonist and an award-winning author of children's picture books and novels. His creations include Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, The Amazing Bone, and Shrek!, which has been adapted into several animated films. His work will be featured in the annual exhibition on book illustration. Free tours are available for groups of ten or more. Contact Terri Steck (tsteck@greenvillemuseum.org) for information.

The exhibition runs thorugh January 15.

The Museum is open Tuesday–Saturday from 11–5, remaining open until 8 on Thursday evenings. On Sundays, we're open from 1–5. Galleries are closed on Mondays and major holidays. Admission is always absolutely free.
