Temperatures May be Rising, But Cataloochee is Still Keeping it Cool

Spring is just around the corner, but skiing and Snowboarding at the Catalooche Ski Area is still in full swing! What better way to enjoy the wonderful mountain scenery and get some great exercise, than bringing the whole family out for some fun on the snow?

Catalooche offers a wide variety of ways to get your kicks.

Cataloochee Ski & Snowboard School:

Cataloochee is a great mountain for learning to ski or snowboard. Two dedicated learning areas – Beginner's Luck and Wolf Creek Hollow with their Moving Carpet Lifts – are isolated from the main trails so you can relax on the forgiving terrain and focus on building your skills. As a bonus, ski school participants have their own lift lines during lessons for more time on the slopes.

Tube World:

Ride the crest of the latest wave in outdoor winter fun - Snow Tubing! Tube World now brings this exciting fun-packed family experience to Maggie Valley, North Carolina. With Cataloochee's famous snowmaking expertise, the 5 run snow tube park is sure to be a must for visitors and locals alike. Sit back and enjoy the moving carpet lift to the top and then get ready for the slide of your life. Conveniently located across from Ghost Town on Highway 19 makes getting to the park easy.

Airboarding:

It’s a sled, it’s a luge, no…its airboarding and its now at a ski area near you. New this season, Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley, North Carolina has joined Canaan Valley Resort in West Virginia and Smuggler’s Notch Resort in Vermont as one of three ski areas on the East Coast to offer airboarding. Airboarding involves riding the slopes on a specialized, inflatable board that also has runners on the bottom, making it both comfortable and maneuverable. Since it's inception in Switzerland in the late 90's, the sport has continued to spread, though only a hand full of resorts in the US have begun to tap into its potential.

Race Series:

The 2010 Ski/Snowboard Challenge is designed as a fun and exciting way for Middle School and High School students to compete with their talents in snow skiing and snowboarding. Sun Trust and Cataloochee Ski Area sponsors the program. Cataloochee is located in beautiful Maggie Valley, NC. Calaloochee offers skiers and snowboards not only the exciting slopes and challenging terrain, but also the friendly and helpful atmosphere that makes the Cataloochee experience unique.
