The grandeur of one of Broadway’s greatest love stories, “Camelot,” comes to the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.“Camelot” follows the love triangle of King Arthur, his Queen Guinevere and the young knight Lancelot. “Featuring (Alan) Lerner’s lyrics and music by (Frederick) Lowe, ‘Camelot’ boasts some of Broadway’s most memorable tunes,” said Lillian Harder, director of the Brooks Center. “Since its original production in 1960, songs from ‘Camelot’ have been among America’s favorites.” They include “The Lusty Month of May,” “How to Handle a Woman,” “If Ever I Should Leave You,” “I Loved You Once,” “Follow Me” and the title tune, “Camelot.” The original production won four Tony Awards in 1961. That same year, the original cast soundtrack was America’s top-selling recording for 60 weeks. Tickets for “Camelot” are $35 for adults and $25 for students.
