The Furman Theatre
Each year, Furman produces three major plays, as well as experimental
works, assembled pieces, one-person shows, student-directed plays,
original scripts or other non-traditional productions. Also, the
student improvisational troupe "Improv-Able Cause" performs monthly for
student and public audiences.
Greenville Chautauqua
Greenville Chautauqua takes their audiences on an Astonishing Journey
into the Past. Much like in colonial Williamsburg a costumed historial
figure (played by scholars in the field) talks to the audience and the
audience gets to interact with them. Father's Day week in June
Chautauqua puts up their tent in a park setting for a week long
out-door Festival. There are also daytime and indoor events. New Years
Eve starts the Chautauqua year with a gala at McAlister Square. Winter
Chautauqua is held in February. Performances are free and open to the
public. Monthly discussions are held February, March, April, and May.
