AID Upstate is in need of volunteers to help at our new charity resale store, Red Ribbon Resale at 803 Pendleton Street. Hours of operation are Tuesday thru Friday 10 AM til 6 PM and Saturday 10 AM til 4 PM. For further information, please call 235-0607.

American Leprosy Missions is the oldest and largest U.S. organization devoted to restoring the lives of people affected by leprosy, is a non-denominational Christian non-profit organization. We support projects throughout Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Located in downtown Greenville, we need volunteers for switchboard relief, mailings, general clerical, and maintenance.

The American Red Cross, Upstate Chapter needs volunteers. Call 964-282-8640 if you would like to help.

Angel Food Ministries needs volunteers to help bag groceries and load them in vehicles one Friday a month. Help is needed between 8am-7pm. Call 225-9790 for more information.

Animal Allies
If you have a skill, we have a need for it! Animal Allies facilitates a low-cost spay/neuter program for cats and dogs. Our services are available to anyone who wants to spay/neuter their pet, however, our focus is on targeted surgeries for low-income families. Volunteers are needed in our clinic and to help with community awareness efforts.GREENVILLE HOTLINE: 864-235-SPAY (7729).

Ayusa
Ayusa is a non-profit high school student exchange organization. Each year, Ayusa places about 1300 foreign exchange students with volunteer American host families for the academic school year or a semester. Open your home to an exchange student this fall! This is a wonderful way for families, parents and couples to give back to their community and broaden their borders by bringing a foreign culture into their homes. Make a difference! Host! The Bair Foundation
Faith based therapeutic foster care agency seeks foster parents for daily care and respite care. For more information, call 864-281-0058.

Cancer Society of Greenville is in need of clerical volunteers. Call 864-232-8439 if interested.

CARE Outreach is a service of the Carolina Pregnancy Center in Spartanburg. They offer Abortion Recovery Support Groups for persons experiencing emotional issues following an abortion. Call 864-582-4673 for help.

CRISISline is a 24/7 telephone service that offers respect, information, & crisis intervention for anyone struggling with the choices & demands of life.  CRISISline is currently accepting volunteer applications.  Applicants should be willing to commit to 30-40 hours of training & be reliable.  Please contact volunteer@mhagc.org or call 467-3348 for information.

Cross Roads Group Home, in Greenville, S.C., is a therapeutic residential program that uses animal assisted therapy to treat sexually abused adolescent girls. In short, it is a place where humans and animals benefit from one another.

Disability Action Center
Volunteers are needed in the Columbia and Greenville area to assist with our growing Assistive Technology Re-Use Program. Volunteers would be responsible for delivering donated assistive technology including wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, power wheelchairs, hospital beds, stair lifts, etc. to people with disabilities to assist them with maintaining their independence! Generous Garden
Generous Garden is a new non-profit organization in Greenville county, growing, harvesting, gleaning and giving fresh fruits and vegetables to area food banks, shelters and agencies. They have a 3 acre garden located between Woodruff and Butler Roads and are in need of volunteers to help maintain this area. Generous Garden also takes groups of volunteers to area farms to glean fresh veggies. So far this year, the group has given away over 25,000 pounds of fresh produce to the hungry in the Upstate.

Goodwill Industries is seeking volunteers to serve as peer mentors for individuals with disabilities and disadvantages. Mentors would meet once a week with proteges to discuss goals and job success. Call 864-467-3200 x124.

Greenville County Guardian ad Litem Program trains volunteers to represent abused children in Family Court. Call 467-5863 ext. 263.

Greenville Literacy Assocation needs volunteers to work with adult students to improve reading, writing, math and English as a Second Language skills. Training is provided. Call 467-3456 for more information.

Greenville Sexual Trauma Center is seeking individuals to be "on call" at least twice a month to respond to phone calls to the hotline and to be available to go to the Emergency Room when there are sexual assault cases. The training for this volunteer opportunity begins on September 17th. Please call 864-467-3633 for more information.

Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County
is a Christian housing ministry building simple, affordable homes for deserving, needy families. Habitat
is seeking individuals who are good with their hands, organized, able to give direction to others and have good people skills to volunteer. To get involved call the Greenville Chapter at 864-295-4315 or the Spartanburg Chapter at 864-595-1851 for more information.

Hands On Greenville
Hands On Greenville was founded ten years ago in response to this challenge, with the goal of creating, organizing, and leading meaningful service projects that positively impact Greenville County.

Hospice Care of South Carolina needs volunteers! What a great way to become involved in the community! Help with patient care, small household chores, or childcare. Groups are also welcome to help with small home repairs, building ramps, yard work, etc. Volunteers are also needed in our Hospice offices, or to bake cookies or make “goodie” bags. Hugs for Hounds
Hugs For Hounds is an organization devoted to sheltering, caring for and rehoming unwanted and homeless Dogs and Puppies. We are a small, non-profit organization of VOLUNTEERS, volunteers being the key word. We are not running a business and have no paid employees. We have many dogs in our care from varied backgrounds Hugs For Hounds works solely from donations, fundraiser's and volunteers. Therefore, we welcome any and all assistance that the public can give.

Animal Care
Can you spare two hours a week? The shelter always needs animal care volunteers. Volunteers work during the shelter's open hours to feed the cats and dogs, clean the cages,sweep and mop floors, and walk the dogs. We also try to make sure all the animals get love and attention while we're there. We have a great group of teenagers helping at the shelter, but we need more adults to help with the animal care and adoptions.
You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer--no exceptions (sorry).
Young people under 16, need to have a parent with them.

Killingsworth, Inc.
Killingsworth is a transitional home for women emerging from crisis situations in Columbia, SC. The home serves women from across the southeast, including residents of
Greenville, Anderson, Oconee, Pickens, and surrounding counties. They are looking for volunteers in the Columbia area.

Loaves & Fishes
Loaves & Fishes delivers donations of perishable food to local human services agencies that feed the hungry 364 days a year. More than 60 regular volunteers assist two staff drivers in picking up food donations and delivering them directly to the agency that will use the food. Great family activity, as drivers must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license and auto insurance and use their private vehicle.

MEALS ON WHEELS of Greenville
MEALS ON WHEELS is a home-delivered hot meal service for persons who are unable to prepare their own food, primarily the frail elderly who are confined to their homes.
MEALS ON WHEELS is desperate for volunteer drivers to deliver a hot nutritious lunch to the elderly and homebound.

Mental Health Association of Greenville County has several volunteer openings. Good listeners are needed to volunteer on CRISISline and TEENline, confidential services providing free community resources information, crisis intervention, and non-judgmental active listening. National Multiple Sclerosis Society 1-800-FIGHTMS
The mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to end the devastating effects of MS.

Operation Comfort is a special program in Army Community Service (ACS) that was established to support deployed service members of Fort Gordon, Augusta and their families, many of whom have roots in the Upstate. Support through Operation Comfort may come in the form of respite childcare, outings or other events that boost morale, family members directly purchasing goods for service members and their families. Safe Homes - Rape Crisis Coalition
Safe Home - Rape Crisis in Spartanburg will offer training for volunteers to assist with their 24-hour crisis line during weekends, evenings and holiday. Training is provided free by community agencies. Call 864-583-9803 or 800-273-5066.

St. Francis Hospice Bereavement Support Group offers free training for volunteers to serve as resources persons for information on hospice and end of life care in their congregations and faith communities. For more information, call 864-233-5300 ext 260.

Senior Action, Inc. is seeking volunteers who would enjoy making a difference in the community. Volunteers of all ages are needed. A wide range of individual and group volunteer opportunities are available. Project also available in the evenings, weekends, or from home. For more information, call Dana L. SouthernCare has volunteer opportunities ranging from office assistance to visiting with patients in their private residences and care facilities. It is easy and fun and you will know you are making a difference. No special skills are needed, and we will give you the training and support you need. United Ministries
United Ministries is a direct service agency intently focused on poverty, homelessness, and their root causes.  Our programs and services help create environments in which people can improve their lives.

United Way-VITA Program
The United Way Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is designed to help low-income taxpayers with the preparation of returns and also to help them obtain eligible tax credits and deductions, especially the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit, Education Tax Credits and Child Care tax deductions. Anyone who files a basic tax return can have taxes prepared at one of the VITA sites.

Women Build 
Women Build, a subsection of Habitat for Humanity, is a group of all-women volunteers who unite each year to raise funds and gather workers (female only) to build a home for a needy single woman with children. The local chapter of Women Build has been selected as one of 15 charities to work the Fall for Greenville festival on October 12, 13 and 14 and they need 80 - 100 people (400 volunteer hours) to represent Women Build by working a shift at FFG.  Anyone at least 16-years-old (including guys) is eligible to volunteer.
